If you want to talk about video games and art and design theory, you want to talk to Chris Solarski. He is the author of ‘Drawing Basics and Video Game Art: Classic to Cutting Edge Art Techniques for Winning Video Game Design‘ and has worked at Sony Computer Entertainment in London, Gbanga, and now develops his own video games at Solarksi Studio. He has also given talks at such prestigious events such as the Smithsonian Museum’s The Art of Video Games Exhibition in Washington DC, at the Fantoche International Animation Film Festival, and the Develop Conference in Brighton, UK. See? Impressive!
For those of you who haven’t seen it, here’s Chris’s talk at the Smithsonian
‘From Botticelli’s Venus to Super Mario: The Evolution of Art History and Future of Video Games’.
Chris has been kind and generous enough to donate copies of his book to the GAAM Charity Show. Next year, we’ll have to figure out a way to fly his out here!
